With one-mini stadium already proposed in each assembly constituency of the state, the Andhra Pradesh Government is planning to establish a sports city in Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati each.
On the occasion of the new indoor sports complex inauguration at Kommadi in Visakhapatnam, Sports and Games Minister of AP, Kollu Ravindra and HRD Minister of AP, Ganta Srinivasa Rao spoke to the media regarding the development of sports facilities in the state.
The government granted Rs 2.40 crore to construct the indoor sports complex in a 5-acre land. The sports stadium would help in providing proper sports infrastructure to sports aspirants.
Minister Ravindra said, ” Gandeeva is a project initiated by the government to help the rural youth excel in sports. The government is treating sports, games, and education at an equal level.”
“100 sports trainees from each village would be selected to provide training in various sports”, the minister said.
Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao said, ” Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu granted a fund of Rs 300 crore for sports and games development in the state. At the new indoor stadium in Kommadi, football, hockey and cycling training would be provided in the first phase.”
A few days back at a public meeting in Visakhapatnam, Chief Minister has mentioned that Visakhapatnam would be constituting a sports city in the likes of Gachibowli at Gajuwaka, Sabbavaram, and Parawada Junction.
