Dubai police close Sridevi’s death case. Body released to family

After a lot of suspense and media speculations, actress Sridevi’s mortal remains will soon be reaching India. As per the latest reports, the Dubai Police has closed Sridevi’s death case and cleared the release of her mortal remains, three days after her death. The body will be handed over to the relatives by the Dubai police and will be brought to India for the cremation.

The Dubai Media Office tweeted, “The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Dubai has stated: ‘The decision to release the body came after all the investigations and procedural matters followed in such incidents were completed, in order to determine all its circumstances and ensure that justice was done within the framework of the law.”

Sridevi’s stepson, Arjun Kapoor recently flew to Dubai to be with his father during the hard times. Currently, Mr. Boney Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor are in Dubai and are taking care of all the formalities and paperwork to make sure the body is brought back to India at the earliest. However, it is still not confirmed how long it will take to bring Sridevi’s mortal remains back to India.

The female superstar died

on the 25th February 2018. Though the reason for her demise was mentioned as cardiac arrest initially, the post-mortem reports, which arrived later, stated the cause as “Accidental Drowning”.

Sridevi was born on 13 February 1963. She went on to act in innumerable films in multiple languages and emerged as one of the most popular female stars in India. Some of her most remarkable films include Moondram Pirai, Sadma, Himmatwala, Jagadekaveerudu Athiloka Sundari, Ksahna Kshanam, Kartheeka Deepam, Premabishekam, English Vinglish among others, with 85 of them being in Telugu. Sridevi shared screen space with many leading Indian actors such as N.T Rama Rao, Sivaji Ganesan, Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty, Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, and others. Recognizing her contribution to the Indian cinema, the Indian government honoured her with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour, in 2013.

After a gap of 15 years, 2012 saw Sridevi make her re-entry into the films with English Vinglish. Her last film, MOM, hit the screens last year and won her many accolades.
