Swiss firm Stadler is all set to set up a rail coach unit in Visakhapatnam. The move is expected to not just bring in a world class manufacturing unit to the city, it will also generate 3000 jobs.
A delegation led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu met the company’s top officials in Zurich. The delegates met the team on the first day of their six-day visit to Switzerland. Stadler is a firm that provides commuter railway and railway segments and already has made its presence felt in Kancharapara in West Bengal. They are looking forward to set up a unit here, especially to manufacture aluminium spares.
The delegation also met another company there who evinced interest to set up a unit here. Trittec – a mosquito net and mesh manufacturer – confirmed to the CM that they would need 5000 sq mts of land for setting up a production unit. This unit will be generating jobs for 400-500 people and will export meshes to Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Another corporation that plans to invest in Andhra Pradesh is Gherzi. They are specialists in blood plasma fractionation and will bring in an investment of Rs 2000 crore. Ratakonda Energy systems will be setting up a 50MW project, they have solar power and information technology projects in Germany.
The CM met representatives of the EERC (European Education and Research Council) of Germany. They plan to integrate research in educational institutions and manufacturing in factories. They specialise in aeronautical, automobile and mechanical engineering and have evinced interest in setting up automobile clusters.
The CM has informed representatives that he is looking forward to bringing the world class German technology to Andhra Pradesh, especially through automobile sector. He suggested that they work with Sri Venkateswara, Andhra University and Nagarjuna University for the same. The delegation also met representatives of Baumgarte Company, who are a part of the EEARC group and are specialists in production of energy from waste.
