Records Salman Khan’s Sultan Has Broken

Salman Khan’s Sultan is doing extremely well and it’s got even the Salman haters rushing to the theatres. Despite his comment about feeling like a ‘raped woman’ almost overpowering the release of the movie – “When I used to walk out of the ring after the shoot, I used to feel like a raped woman. I couldn’t walk straight,” said Salman – it does not seem to have really effected the commercial aspect of the movie in any manner. The movie is creating a buzz for it’s storyline, Salman and Anushka’s acting skills and most importantly, for the box office records it keeps breaking. The biggest Eid opener and even biggest opener of 2016 in general.

Raking in a whopping Rs 36.54 crore on opening day, the movie has broken the first day collection records of Chennai Express which collected Rs 33.10 crore.

Anushka Sharma’s highest opener and weekend grosser.

Sultan broke her record of PK being the highest opener. PK collected Rs 26.63 crore on opening day. Sultan collected Rs 180.36 crore over the opening weekend as opposed to PK that got Rs 95.21 crore.

Salman’s highest weekend grosser.

Sultan broke the record Prem Ratan Dhan Payo that raked in Rs 129.77 crore over the opening weekend.

Highest opening day collection for a sports film.

Sultan broke the record that Chak De! India, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Mary Kom previously held.

Highest opening day occupancy.

The film opened with an occupancy of 80-90 percent on an average, whereas Fan had opened with 75-80 percent.

Highest collection in advance bookings.

Sultan started its advance booking three days before release and it collected approximately Rs 20 crore through these bookings, more than Bhajrangi Bhaijaan.

Highest Wednesday collection.

It broke the record that Ek Tha Tiger previously held.

Fastest film to collect Rs 175 crore.

Sultan collected Rs 175 crore before the end of day 5, breaking the record of Bhajrangi Bhaijaan.
