Striving for the cause of Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Naramalli Sivaprasad dressed up as a ‘Tantrik’ and staged a unique protest against the centre outside the Parliament on Thursday.
The MP from Chittoor demonstrated his peculiar agitation near the Gandhi statue by reciting several chants. He claimed that Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Durga came to him and asked why Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn’t fulfill the promises he had made to Andhra Pradesh during the state’s bifurcation in 2014. He also said that the centre should be cautious of its promises and will have to face the brunt if it fails to deliver.
There has been a huge uproar in Andhra Pradesh over the centre for not allocating the special status to the state. February 8th saw various parties in the state come out in unison as they called for a Bandh across Andhra Pradesh.
The past few days have seen the parliament sessions been disrupted by the politicians from Andhra Pradesh who have been demanding the government to fulfill the promises made to the state in 2014.
In addition to the Special Railway Zone, the state
government had also urged the centre to release funds for the purposes of Amaravati, Kadapa Steel Plant and a railway division for the stretch between Vijayawada and Guntakal. The centre, however, hasn’t allocated “sufficient funds” and the leaders feel, the Modi government has handed over a “betrayal” to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
