Telugu Desam Party loses two of its leaders within 10 days

The past few weeks have been quite testing for Telugu Desam Party. The ruling party in Andhra Pradesh has lost two of its senior leaders in a span of 10 days, leaving the members and supporters in an utter state of shock and disbelief.

After the brutal murders of Kidari Sarveswara Rao and Siveri Soma in Araku on 23 September, veteran politician and industrialist MVVS Murthy was recently killed in an unfortunate car accident on 3 October in Alaska.

With just about six months to go the elections, the untimely demise of these leaders has deflated the spirits in the Telugu Desam Party camp.

While the members feel that Murthy’s loss will leave the party devoid of a crucial torchbearer, the deaths of Kidari Sarveswara Rao and Siveri Soma might pose as a serious challenge to Telugu Desam Party’s fate in the tribal regions.

It is also to be noted that Telugu Desam Party supporters were also dealt with a major blow when senior leader Nandamuri Harikrishna passed away in a car crash a few weeks ago.

In case you didn’t know…

Kidari Sarveswara Rao and Siveri Soma were killed in a Maoist attack in Araku. It was reported that the vehicle of the Telugu Desam Party leaders was stopped by the attackers, who forced them to get down. Weapons of the three security officers, comprising two 9mm pistols and 9mm carbine, were seized by the Maoists giving them no chance to open fire. Subsequently, the two leaders were taken a few meters away from the vehicle and were shot dead.

GITAM Founder and eminent industrialist, MVVS Murthy, on the other hand, breathed his last

after meeting a deadly car accident in Alaska. Along with the 80-year-old, three others were also killed in the road mishap. It was learned that the members visited the US to take part in the GITAM Alumni meet.
