While December is to end in just ten days, sudden drop in the temperature is recorded in the city of Visakhapatnam and its suburbs. While the Andhra University road and Sagar Nagar remain the coldest areas in the city, Visalakshi nagar and Pineapple colony come next to them. The lowest temperature recorded in the city was 15 degree Celsius while the average temperature throughout the day is 22 degree Celsius.
With the drop in the temperature, the city roads are deserted early than before and people tend to remain in their homes. People living on the streets are prey to the cold wind that prevails over the city after mid night. Many people are seen using a born fire to heat themselves up and get rid o the cold.
Areas like Tenneti Park and Seethammadhara start getting cold once the traffic level decrease and become really cold after mid night. People can be seen flocking to tea and coffee stalls near the railway station and the complex areas.
The traffic police on duty in the nights suffer because of the cold winds as there is no mode of heat providing to them. Mere jackets are not enough to fight the winter nights on the road and traffic police are getting tired of cold nights.
The roads in the city are covered with fog and it is difficult to travel on the beach road as the fog reduces the visibility. People living near the coast are also a prey to the cold as the water and the trees around reduces the temperature more than in other areas.
People living in the crowded areas like Jagadamba, Akkayapalem and Maddilapalem do not experience chilly cold as heavy traffic in the wee hours increases the temperature as a result of air pollution.
While the city people are already enjoying the winters, the temperature is expected to decrease in the coming days. So it is the best time to plan a drives and visit to Araku Valley for freezing cold and misty views.
