New facilities will come up at RK Beach for the benefit of both locals and tourists. Vizagites will now get a chance to enjoy the sea view even under the scorching sun. Gopalapatnam based Harshini Resorts will set up reclining seats with thatched umbrellas near the Kali temple at RK Beach.
The resort’s Proprietor P Vamsi reportedly said that he visited Goa to study the facilities offered there for tourists and came up with the idea to set up thatched umbrellas here. “I thought of setting up thatched umbrellas over the seats to provide a cool shade in the hot summer. I spent nearly Rs 15,000 for each seat and six such seats will be provided in the first phase,” he reportedly said.
He stated that seven months ago he had set up cloth umbrellas by the beach, but they were left damaged due to cyclonic storms on two separate occasions. The response he had received was good, especially from tourists coming in from Odisha and West Bengal.
The umbrellas prepared now have been brought in from Salur in Vizianagaram district. The dried grass that is generally used by the villagers to build thatched houses is being used for the umbrellas now. The facility now sees 150 customers per day during weekdays and 300 during the weekends. The charge is Rs 30 per head and foot and head massages are also offered.
