While the debate on whether to stand or not for the national anthem seems to be raging everywhere, one brilliant project is here to give us a worthy reason to stand for.
The Stand Up Project features several differently abled champions who brought laurels to India in their respective fields. It conveys the message that such people need to be presented with opportunities, not charity, so as to prove their mettle. The initiative has been spearheaded by a film named ‘National Anthem India’. The campaign was flagged off on December 3rd, The International Day of People with Disability as recognized by the United Nations General Assembly.
The Stand Up Project is dedicated to mark the whole month of December as the platform to stand up for the differently abled people. In an effort to create awareness and recognize the multiple obstacles faced by the differently abled, filmmaker Ashvin Naidu and his team have come up with this project. The film is an in-house production of Ashvin’s company, called Avakkai Films, based in Bengaluru.
The film has certainly struck a chord with many and has been going viral on social media. In fact, former Indian cricketer and Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar too appreciated the team’s effort and shared the video on his Facebook page.
