Thugs of Hindostan initial reviews: Fans and critics express disappointment

Thugs of Hindostan initial reviews: One of the most awaited releases this year, Thugs of Hindostan has hit the screens on Thursday amid much hype and frenzy. Coming as a Diwali special, the magnum-opus stars Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh as part of a star-studded ensemble that held our captive right since the film’s announcement.

Made on a whopping budget, Thugs of Hindostan was touted to be high on technical values and high-octane action sequences that would provide much of an eye-candy for the audience. However, a few of the initial reviews of the film aren’t in its favour and seem to be dispiriting the fans.

With the critics and general audience lambasting several aspects of the film, Thugs of Hindostan looks to be staring down the barrel to reach the expected magic numbers at the box office.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to social media to share his opinion on Thugs of Hindostan. Giving a 2-star rating for the film, Mr Adarsh said that it was disappointing. All that glitters is NOT gold… Holds true for #TOH… Some engrossing moments in the first hour, that’s about it… Formula-ridden plot, screenplay of convenience, shoddy direction are the main culprits, (sic)” he shared

“Thugs of Hindostan may reap the benefit of the holiday period + tremendous hype + impressive names in its cast… But will find it difficult to sustain after the initial euphoria settles down… #TOH is a golden opportunity lost, a ‬KING-SIZED DISAPPOINTMENT!” Taran Adarsh further added.

“Thugs of Hindostan is a colossal disappointment! Screenplay is illogical, dialogues even more pathetic. Aamir and Big B = GOOD and they try to be the saving grace but they remain as caricatures! VFX and fight sequences are very bad! Big debacle!” shared

a user on Twitter.

A few others even came down hard on the performances of the leading cast and labelled the film as boring and a let-down.

On the other hand, some of the moviegoers seemed to like the film and called Thugs of Hindostan as a visual feast. Predicting that the film would set the box office on fire, they also applauded the technical values.

Given that another big-ticket film, 2.O, would be releasing in a few days time, it remains to seem how Thugs of Hindostan would face the initial odds and fare at the box office.
