Craft Council of Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with The Craft Tree is conducting a two-day Tie and Dye workshop in Visakhapatnam!
Leheriya is a simple style of tie and dye from the state of Rajasthan, India. Literally translating to mean wave-like, it symbolises the unique and rich costumes of Rajasthan.
Shibori is a Japanese manual resist dyeing technique, which produces interesting patterns on the fabric.
Clamp dyeing is a technique which involves making folds in the fabric and then using a carved wood shape as a resist. This wood resist needs to be placed on both sides of the folded cloth and then is held together tightly with a clamp.
These different techniques can be used independently or in collaboration with one another to achieve desired results, and the camp will teach you how. Moreover, each of the techniques lead to many options for distinctive options as well.
Yes! The workshop not only provides the different types of dyes, but also the required material for that specific method. (If you want to make something else of your own creation, you can buy a separate material at an additional cost.)
In addition to the fun workshop, there will be few stalls selling exquisite clothes and accessories handcrafted by several artisans across the region, including a tie and dye stall which has many unique varieties of sarees, stoles and dupattas.
