Resenting the steep fee hike by the school management of Timpany School in Vizag, a few parents staged a protest against the school on Monday. Reportedly, over 10 parents have also launched an indefinite hunger strike in the city against the call to hike the fee by 30 to 40 percent, demanding the school management to roll back the decision.
It may be noted that earlier, Timpany School was in the news for catching the ire of the parents, after reportedly asking the students to purchase books, stationery, and shoes from the school premises at high prices. Reports further claimed that the hike was implemented without any consent from Parent-Teachers Association. Parents alleged that even though the school management had verbally assured them to roll back the fee hike by Friday, no action was taken in this regard yet.
The parents made an appeal to the District Collector to address the issue and requested the Board of Education to take action against the school management. They further said that the strike would be carried on until the school rolls back its decision to increase the fee.
On the other hand, the management of Timpany School, in Vizag, found fault with the parents’ agitation and alleged that it was an attempt to tarnish the school’s image.
