Vizag weather update: As cyclone Titli intensifies and reaches the coastline, an alert has been issued in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Being monitored at the highest level by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone is expected to cause heavy rainfall in Vizag, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram.
As per the Cyclone Warning Centre, the Titli Cyclone is currently located 190 km South East from Kalingapatnam and would be crossing the shore on Thursday morning between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur.
The officials further informed that while the wind speed in Vizag has been currently gauged at 60-70 kmph and will reach up to 80 kmph by 8 pm in the night. The wind speed is very likely to intensify to 100-110 kmph by midnight.
In addition to issuing the prerequisite warnings, the officials have also alerted the fishermen from not venturing into the sea as Vizag weather seems to deteriorate by the passing hour.
On the other hand, a red alert has been issued in Odisha. As a precautionary measure, the state government has passed orders to shut down schools and colleges in four districts of Odisha.
Also, given the intensity of the Titli cyclone, down trains from Hyderabad and Vizag will not be allowed from Duvvada after 6:40 pm. No passenger trains will commute between Khurda Road and Vizianagaram after 10 pm until further instructions are received.
