Tollywood movies set the box-office on fire in summer

Summer generally proves to be a golden period for Tollywood. Several big-ticket films hit the screens during the season to keep the audiences hooked. This year’s summer too, thus far, has proved to be a good one for Telugu film industry.

Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam, which released on March 30, set the box office ablaze right since its first few shows. While Ram Charan’s new look and music director Devi Sri Prasad’s tunes created the pre-release buzz, a strong word of mouth for the film’s plot and the cast’s brilliant performances made people flock the theatres after it got released. Rangasthalam has not only been enjoying a dream run in India but the overseas markets too are witnessing it making merry. In a span of about 25 days, the film has raked in about a gross amount of close to 190 crores and has emerged as Tollywood’s biggest earner thus far in 2018.

While Nani’s Krishnarjuna Yuddham couldn’t quite manage to hit a chord with the audiences, Mahesh Babu‘s Bharat Ane Nenu, which released amidst much frenzy and hype, has hit the right note. Proving to be yet another success in the actor’s career, this film by Koratala Siva is currently busy breaking records left, right, and centre. The film, which has received rave reviews from the fans and critics alike, has already entered the 100 crore club. Bharat Ane Nenu has even taken the overseas market by storm with the collections in the US and other countries reaching staggering numbers.

Come this May, and Tollywood will be in for yet another biggie in the form of Naa Peru Surya Naa Illu India. The Allu Arjun starrer has created a buzz with its teaser and is one of the most eagerly awaited Telugu films this year. On the other hand, Superstar Rajnikanth’s Kaala too is all set to make the fans go gaga in June.
