The Andhra Pradesh government is all set to close 60 tourism deals worth Rs 2000 crore today. The mega and minor projects also include the development of a new five star hotel. All the projects are being undertaken under PPP mode.
Despite receiving several proposals, the AP Tourism department has now decided to invite Request for Proposals (RFP) for all the 60 projects at a go. 25 of the 60 projects are for hotels, 12 are wayside amenity projects, 14 beach projects, 5 family entertainment centre and convention centres, 7 resorts and 10 are miscellaneous.
Some of the projects of the 60 are old ones that never took off for various reasons. For the fresh proposals, land will be provided on a lease basis for 33 years by the government either under Build Operate Transfer or Design Build Finance Transfer modes. The project gaining most attention is the construction of a five star hotel worth Rs 300 crore in Madhurawada in our city. Three star hotels will also be coming up in Anathapuram, Gandikota, Puttlampalli in Kadapa district, Orvakal and Kanipakam in Kurnool district.
Beach resorts will be coming up in Madhurawada and Mutyalammapalem and Ramayapatnam in Prakasham district, Tummlapenta in Nellore district, Baruva, Chintapalli, Kakinada and Chirrayanam in East Godavari district. A luxury beach resort will come up at Suryalanka in Guntur district, and another will come up at Mypadu in Nellore district. Beach amenities projects will be coming up at Vodarevu beach in Chirala and Tantadi beach here, while adventure sports amenities will be set up at Rushikonda and Sagarnagar.
As one can see, majority of the projects are being set up at Visakhapatnam. Four family entertainment centres will be set up in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Tirupati. And lastly, Meetings Conferences and Exhibition Centres will be set up in Yandada, Ruhshikonda, Sagarnagar and Simhachalam, in Visakhapatnam and Srikalahasti in Chittoor district.
After RFPs for all the above projects will be issued, pre-bid meetings will be held. After bid winners are selected, the projects will be expected to be completed within two years. The government is also considering amendment of the incentives policy for some of these tourism projects.
