It is never boring to go on a ride along the Vizag beach, especially from RK Beach to Rushikonda. From the fresh morning breeze to the bright city lights in the evening, the road is always lit 24/7. But, if one wants to spend the time to visit the tourist spots which fall in between the two landmarks, here is a list which might help you.
Kali Matha Temple
Famous for its architecture, Kali Matha Temple lies at the starting of the RK Beach. The shrine of the Goddess of Power (Kali Matha) is built in 1984 and is one of the main pilgrimage attraction of the city.
Matsyadharshini Fish Aquarium
The public fish aquarium on the beach road is so much noted for its entrance which is in the shape of a shark mouth. Set up by the Municipal Corporation in the year 1994, the aquarium is home for a variety of fish species. Rare aquatic animals from Singapore and Malaysia are put on display here. Also, one can shop handicrafts and shell artifacts which are sold in a shop at the aquarium.
TU 142 Aircraft and Kursura Submarine Museums
While the aircraft museum which houses TU 142 Aircraft, a plane which served Indian Navy for 29 years, lies on the opposite side of the beach, the Kursura Submarine, the submarine which played the key role in Indo-Pakistan War, lies on along the coastline. Both of the museums receive a lot of tourist footfall throughout the year.
Victory at Sea
The memorial is built in remembrance of the victory against Pakistan during the Indo-Pakistan War in 1971. It is also built as a respect to the Indian Navy and Eastern Naval Command officers who took part in the war.
All-Abilities Park
Constructed by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), the All-abilities Park, rightly fitting to its name, provides a complete recreation to the differently abled too. The park is open from 10 am to 10:30 pm in the night. With no entry fee, it witnesses a lot of floating, especially during weekends and on public holidays.
VUDA Park
One of the largest parks in Vizag, VUDA park has been a part of the city for a long time. One of the famous tourist spots, VUDA Park is famous for its architecture and greenery. People don’t just visit the park to tour around but also to walk around in the early mornings to stay fit and healthy.
Kailasagiri
If you are an outsider and visiting the city for the first time, Kailasagiri would surely be a part of your tourism itinerary. One of the oldest parks in the city is a preferred picnic spot in the city. The idol of Lord Shiva and Parvati is a special attraction. Watch out for the ropeway to take a ride to the top of the hill.
Tenniti Park
If one wants to witness a picturesque view of the sunrise which looks like the sun rising out of the Vizag beach, Tenniti Park would be a top pick. The park looks more attractive during the nights under the artificial lights.
Indira Gandhi Zoological Park
Also known as the Vizag Zoo, the zoological park is the third largest park in the country. Occupied with primates, carnivores, lesser carnivores, small mammals, reptiles, ungulates and birds, the zoo is one of the famous places to visit in Vizag.
Rushikonda Beach
There are many beaches in Vizag but when it comes to Rushikonda beach, it is famous for all the water sports like surfing and speed boating. One of the famous tourist spots is filled with stalls where one can food and innumerable items to shop.
