Andhra Pradesh State Fibernet Limited (APSFL) is likely to distribute its Triple Play Boxes in December. These boxes will provide its users with phone; internet and cable connectivity. The project is being tested in Visakhapatnam, Kurnool, East Godavari and Krishna districts and will be available for the public in the North Coastal area in December.
The cost for all the three boxes during installation is expected to be Rs. 4000 and then at Rs. 150 per month for all the services. Earlier the APSFL planned for only one triple play box per household but now are planning to have two. One for cable connection and the other for telephone and internet connections.
A hiccup for this plan might be its cost. The amount allotted for installation- Rs.4000 would be a lot for middle class users provided that they already have access to low cost internet. The customers will also be asked to pay extra amount for viewing certain channels. This and also the fact that all the three services have to be bought together might not please the customers.
APSFL is also planning to introduce EMI system for the payment for the installation charge. The customers will have to pay Rs. 500 at first and Rs.100 per month in four years.
