TRS MP Kavitha Kalvakuntla extended her support to the state of Andhra Pradesh while speaking in Lok Sabha on Thursday. The Nizamabad MP said that the government must fulfill the promises made to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh during the state bifurcation in 2014.
Kavitha said, “We demand whatever has been promised to us during the AP Reorganisation Act on the floor of this house has to be honoured. We sincerely urge that you fulfill the promises made to both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Since past two to three days, all our Andhra brothers from both YSRCP and TDP have been agitating. We support their agitation, but being in the alliance, if they are agitating, it is clearly sending a wrong message to this nation. So kindly address this issue as soon as possible.”
While appreciating the government for boosting the ease of doing business in India, Kavitha also stated that the recently announced Union Budget is a big let down to the farmers.
The past few days have seen the parliament sessions been disrupted by the politicians from Andhra Pradesh who have been demanding the government to fulfill the promises made to the state in 2014.
In addition to the Special Railway Zone, the state government had also urged the centre to release funds for the purposes of Amaravati, Kadapa Steel Plant and a railway division for the stretch between Vijayawada and Guntakal. The centre, however, hasn’t allocated “sufficient funds” and the leaders feel, the Modi government has handed over a “betrayal” to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
