The much awaited Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) partnership summit is scheduled to begin today, here in Visakhapatnam. Over 2000 delegates from 51 countries would be attending the summit. The focal point of the summit will be achieving sustained economic growth in the present global economic order, according to CII Director-General Chandrajit Banerjee.
The Partnership Summit 2017 is a unique platform that would enable close examination of the partnerships and synergies that will spark the next phase of global growth and develop strong multi-country linkages and networks to assist the transformation of the global economy, CII said in a statement.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, several other Union ministers, state ministers, CEOs of companies and foreign delegates will address the gathering in the inaugural session. There would be several sessions on achieving sustained economic growth, the strategies to be adopted for co-operation among nations and the direction the Indian economy is taking in the aftermath of demonetization.
India’s sunrise state Andhra Pradesh will be using the platform to attract investment as the state government is expected to sign MoUs with various companies. “Of course, there will be a session on Sunrise Andhra Pradesh and issues relating to the State. The construction of the new capital, Amaravati, the great investment opportunities emerging in the State after bifurcation, and infrastructure-related issues will be discussed,” stated CII Director-General Chandrajit Banerjee. He expressed confidence that the State would be able to attract a huge chunk of investment, as it did last year, and the investment would be good both in terms of quantity and quality.
Some of the overseas dignitaries addressing the Summit include Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Nepal’s Commerce Minister Romi Gauchan Thakali, Ukraine’s First Vice Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv, United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Economy Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Zambia’s Commerce Minister Margaret Mhango Mwanakatwe, Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister for Industry and Commerce C.I.
