In collaboration with University of California, Berkeley, AU will come up with an innovation centre built at the cost of Rs 2 crore. The agreement has been signed by both the universities to design the centre to provide entrepreneurship training. It will be set up at the AU College of Engineering.
In collaboration with the German conglomerate, the other centre to come up is named as Siemens centre. Reportedly, Prof. Umamaheswara Rao said, “Work has already begun and Siemens has already supplied a number of heavy equipment. Right now the equipment has been kept in the labs of mechanical, instrumental and electrical engineering. This year we intend to build an exclusive block to house all the equipments under one roof and formally name is as Siemens Centre.”
The central idea of designing both the centres is to make the students industry ready and enhance entrepreneurship skills in them.
Apart from this, a 1500 bed hostel is being planned for women in the engineering college. AU is also contemplating on beginning B.Tech courses in the evenings. The university will receive Rs 20 crore from Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan which it will be utilising for upgrading facilities in hostels and classrooms. They will plan so that each department will have atleast two e-classrooms.
The AU is spending Rs 54 lakh to facelift the historic TLN Sabha Hall that was damaged during Hudhud.
