The previous year turned out to be a dull one for Bollywood. Barring Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, many big-ticket movies, that were expected to set the box-office on fire, proved to be big-time duds.
2018, however, promises to be a much refreshing one for the Hindi cinema-goers. From a plethora of star-studded movies to the indigenous dramas, many films are lined up to keep us thrilled in the coming months. Here are some of the most-anticipated Bollywood movies releasing this year.
#1 Padman
Padman is a movie based on the sensational story of Arunachalam Muruganatham who revolutionized the manufacturing of sanitary napkins for women in India. All set to hit the screens on January 26th, this Akshay Kumar starrer is currently busy creating the pre-release promotional buzz.
#2 Padmavat
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavat’ has finally been cleared for a release in India. Surrounded by a gamut of controversies ever since it was first announced, the movie has kept the film lovers intrigued for quite some time now. The movie stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles. Gear up for ‘Padmavat’ from 25th January.
#3 Race 3
After striking gold at the box office with ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, Salman Khan, a.k.a “Bhai”, will once again load up to storm the cash registers with his upcoming ‘Race 3’. The third installment in the ‘Race’ series, this movie is being directed by Remo D’Souza and is slated for an Eid release.
#4 Gold
A biopic based on the life of hockey player Balbir Singh, ‘Gold’ has sent out the right vibes ever since the release of its first poster. The movie, which is set for an Independence day release, stars Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, and Gauhar Khan in the lead roles.
#5 Thugs of Hindostan
Possessing a heavy star cast that includes the likes of Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Katrina Kaif, ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ is surely one of the biggest releases this year. The movie is deemed to be a period action thriller directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya of ‘Dhoom 3’ fame.
#6 Zero
After the disastrous ‘Jab Harry met Sejal’ last year, King Khan definitely needs a hit to get back to form. As a result, all the fans of SRK have pinned their hopes to Anand L Rai’s ‘Zero’, in which the Bollywood Baadshah plays the role of a dwarf. This movie is slated for a year-end release on the occasion of Christmas.
#7 Super 30
‘Super 30’ is a biopic based on the life of Patna based mathematician Anand Kumar, who’s famous for his Super 30 program where he readies a bunch of students for the much-famed entrance examination of the IITs. This Hrithik Roshan starrer will probably hit the screens by the end of 2018.
