Vaishali More Biking to Shirdi

Vaishali More, a female biker from Vizag, was flagged off today morning for a solo trip to Shirdi. “It’s a symbol of empowerment and liberty for me,” says Vaishali More. 48 year old More has been biking for years but this will be her longest trip yet. The point is to pass on and emphasise the importance of women being independent.

The ride is supported by Rohit Memorial Trust who have been a part of many social initiatives in the state. Their recent project includes sexual and menstrual hygiene awareness programmes across the district for school girls.

An appeal has been put to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office for a solo trip planned in 2017 across India. The platform will be used to spread awareness about genital hygiene and cervical cancer in rural areas.
