After thumping the Windies by 8 wickets in the 1st ODI in Guwahati, team India gears up to take on the men from the Carribean in the 2nd ODI on 24 October. Set to be played in the beautiful city of Vizag, the game has already set a frenzy among the fans given the array of star players who will be in action in the city. The game in Vizag is also poised to witness a remarkable cricketing feat from Virat Kohli. A feat that has only been achieved by 12 players in the history of the sport.
Thanks to his kingly 140 in the first game of the ongoing ODI series, Virat Kohli has inched closer to the much-coveted landmark of 10,000 runs in ODI cricket.
The Indian skipper, who currently accounts for 9919 runs, needs just 81 runs more to become the 5th Indian and the 13th cricketer overall to amass 10,000 runs in the 50-over format of the game. By achieving the same, Kohli will be joining an elite hall of fame that includes the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid, Brian Lara and MS Dhoni among others.
The 29-year-old has already broken several records in the game and will be looking to add yet another feather to his prestigious cap. And given his run of form in Vizag, it would be no surprise of the Delhi dynamite goes past the landmark here on Wednesday.
So, if you’re a cricket fan, then don’t stay far from the action as history beckons Vizag.
India and West Indies have currently locked horns in a 5 match-ODI series. The home team will be entering the field in Vizag with a 1-0 lead. India had also defeated the Windies by a 2-0 margin in the recently concluded Test series.
