Vizag’s annual fest, Visakha Utsav will soon be setting the city alive. Set to be organised on 28, 29, and 30 December this year, the grand carnival will be held at the RK Beach in Vizag. Also, cultural programs involving local artists would be organised at the Novotel down.
Speaking to media persons at the Governor’s Bungalow in the city, HRD Minister, Ganta Srinivasa Rao informed that arrangements are being made to organise the upcoming Visakha Utsav in a grander fashion than the one held last year.
Rao further informed that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will be marking his presence in the Vizag for the opening ceremony of Visakha Utsav 2018. Tourism Minister, Bhuma Akila Priya and other prominent personalities will also be present at the opening ceremony.
Being planned to be organised on the lines of Brazilian carnival, this year’s Visakha Utsav is expected to feature numerous artists belonging to different art forms.
In addition to the programs that received crowd’s appreciation last year, newer programs too would be held at the carnival this year. While VMRDA will organise a flower show at the city’s central park, the endowments department will showcase models of famous temples in Andhra Pradesh. An air-show, with help from the Indian Navy, is also expected to captivate the crowds at Visakha Utsav 2018.
Rao informed that while the state government had granted Rs 3.50 crores for conducting Visakhapatnam’s annual carnival this year, VMRDA and GVMC had contributed Rs 50 lakhs each for the same. He invited Vizagites to participate actively in the upcoming event and make it a grand success.
Last year, apart from the local treats, a wide range of artists including the likes of Thaikuddam Bride, Pritam, and Sreeram Chandra, proved to be the highlights of the carnival.
