Visakhapatnam city police have arrested a gang of 15 criminals in the city on Friday. The gang targeted locked houses in the city to steal valuables during the nights. It has been informed that the cops have recovered 1.66 kg of gold and 6 kg of silver jewellery from the gang.
These 15 burglars, including three women, were headed by Chukka Sreenu(43). As per a report on business standard, the police informed that Sreenu, who is a resident of Malkapuram area in Visakhapatnam, was involved in as many as 160 cases. In fact, it has also been learned that Sreenu, who resorted to the criminal route in 1992, is an apparent kleptomaniac (An impulse control disorder that results in an irresistible urge to steal). The gang’s honcho once again resumed his criminal activities after being released from the prison in 2012.
Other members have been identified as K Vasu (26), R Nagaraju (40),L Rajasekhar (46), D Suresh (37), M Sudheer Kumar (21), KLV Prasad (24), K Padma (45), K Appalaraju (53), M Lakshmi (40), M Narayanamma (41), D Govind (24), M Santosh Kumar (28), D Venkat (26) and D Siva Kumar (35), all residents of Vizag city.
With these arrests, the police have claimed to have solved over 51 cases of burglary or theft, 48 of which were registered in the city limits and three in East Godavari district.
