It has been reported that around 4000 acres of land would be acquired in Atchutapuram Mandal of Visakhapatnam district for setting up Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).
In a recently held review meeting held at the Collectorate in Visakhapatnam, District Collect, Pravin Kumar I.A.S, instructed the officials to resolve the issues pertaining to lands and redress grievances in the villages of Tantadi, and Chippada, Telangana Today reported.
The collector said a report on the status of land acquisition for the proposed BARC Centre should be submitted by the end of March. It has also been learned that the collector would hold a meeting with the officials from Forest Department if any forest land would be required for the project.
The officials also said that the government rate for the land should be fixed and the displaced persons should be compensated without delay.
BARC Joint Secretary Alexander, Regional Director Venkataratnam, Joint Collected G. Srujana, Assistant Collector Misha Singh and others were also present at the meeting.
The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), named after India’s famous scientist Homi J Bhabha, is the country’s premier nuclear research centre and is headquartered in Mumbai.
