Visakhapatnam Collector Pravin Kumar directed the officials to achieve the targets set in several welfare schemes brought announced by the state government in Andhra Pradesh. Mentioning that the works must be completed by January-end, he also warned the officials of stern action if they fail in achieving the same.
The Collector, while reviewing the progress of welfare schemes on Wednesday, said that any laxity from the officials’ end will be viewed seriously.
Mr. Kumar reviewed the construction works of toilets in the agency areas in Visakhapatnam and also sought updates on other tasks including solid waste management, installation of LED lights, and rainwater harvesting pits among others.
The Collector stated that of the Rs 28.56 crores sanctioned for the rural employment guarantee scheme, Rs 16.83 crores has been spent thus far.
On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, also urged the officials to speed up several developmental works in Visakhapatnam. In a meeting held with the district officials on Wednesday, the minister stated that care should be taken to avoid any land-related issues while developing these projects.
Reportedly, the minister urged the officials to fasten up the processes in line with the orders issued by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. District Collector Pravin Kumar, Joint Collector J Srujana, VMRDA Commissioner Basant Kumar, GVMC Commissioner Harinarayanan also took part in the meeting held at VMRDA office.
