The Andhra University Convention Center is finally set to open in the City of Destiny and the project which took six years to come about will finally grace Visakhapatnam. The event that will be the first to be held there is the grand alumni meet of Andhra University. The premier institute boasts of many distinguished persons amongst it’s alumni. A great example here would be our Vice-President Shri Venkaiah Naidu. It is thus opportune that he be the one to inaugurate the convention center. Tall and imposing, the convention center has an unbeatable location right on Beach Road.

A lot of roadblocks pained the project since inception. The idea came about a decade ago and after being shelved and 6 years of construction, the structure will open finally. Not just that, many financial and practical problems have also beset the project from time to time. The outcome is superb and Visakhapatnam is proud to have a convention center of global standards. Spread over 4.5 acres and built up area of 40,000 sq.ft there is ample parking space as well as well developed greens around it. It’s capacity is huge and the 1600 seating space can accommodate 200 more chairs if the need arises.

For VVIP visits and more, there are 2 well appointed VVIP lounges, an exhibition gallery space, a mini conference hall that can accommodate 200 people, two elevators that can accommodate 16 persons at a time, 4 green rooms and washrooms sufficient at each level. It goes without saying that the sound and visuals facilities are beyond par and surveillance at each level is seen to.

Located on the Beach Road, precautions have been taken to protect the structure against natural elements such as high wind speeds. All this and more has added up to an investment of 13.5 crores INR in the project. A lot of grants are coming in from different alumni of Andhra university who wish to leave no stone unturned in making the venture world class. It is an expression of regard and respect for their institution that is the motivation.
