Heat wave continues to exasperate Vizagites

Heat wave continues to roast Vizag: The sun has been beating down hard on Visakhapatnam for the past few days and the citizens do not seem to be in for a respite anytime soon. With record temperatures being witnessed in the past few days, the scorching weather has been taking a serious toll on the city.

Recently, Visakhapatnam recorded its highest temperature of the season when the city’s airport reported a temperature of 41.4 degrees on Sunday. Worse even, the rise in temperatures is also being accompanied by a drop in humidity, which has resulted in heat waves in the city.

The situation elsewhere in Andhra Pradesh seems to be similar as other cities and towns have reported of extreme weather conditions. While Rajahmundry recorded 42 degrees, Kakinada recorded 41 degrees of temperature recently. As a precautionary measure against the exasperating weather in the state, the government has shut down schools for three days.

With weather expected to be partly cloudy, the forecast seems to be a bit better on Wednesday. However, it is advised to take certain precautionary measures to safeguard ourselves for the prevalent heat wave in the city. Here are a few measures that could help you stay safe this season.

  1. STAYING HYDRATED

The basic precaution to be taken during the summers is to keep your body hydrated. Heavy perspiration can run the body dry of fluids which makes it imperative to consume water regularly.

  1. PLAYING WATER SPORTS

Water sports will not only keep you fresh and rejuvenated but also prove to be your daily quotient of fitness activity during those harsh sunny days.

  1. CONSUMING SMALLER MEALS

The more we eat, the more is the heat generated within the body. Experts suggest that eating smaller meals throughout the day will help in controlling the internal heat generated.

  1. MEDITATING

Something that can be practised in all seasons, meditation can help a great deal in soothing your mind and keep those “temperature-instigated-furies” at bay.

  1. MAINTAINING HYGIENE

Maintaining personal hygiene becomes all more important during the summers. From keeping a smart hairdo to taking frequent showers, self-grooming tips help quite a lot when the sun is at its peaking best.
