The shameful crime has happened on the afternoon of December 30th but the horror has come to light only yesterday as the parents of the minor girl have come forward to report the case. Visakhapatnam police have registered a case under relevant sections of Nirbhaya Act, SC/ST Act and POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. The investigations have also started.
The minor girl, speech and hearing challenged as well was working as a gardener in Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone. It was here that she fell prey to private bus driver C Viswanathan. The victim was further abused with threatening by the perpetrator. It was after she showed signs of physical distress that her family grew suspicious. After inquiries, the horror has come to light for the family. A direct action of approaching the police for help has followed.
The plight of the minor girl and the agony she must have suffered bring shame. It was in the private travel bus that she was raped and under fear she kept quiet until her family discovered the act. It is no doubt reminding people of the previous such incident that had left the Visakhapatnam people shocked and shaken. It had made national headlines and sparked outrage across India. The age of the victim as well as her physical challenges in the recently reported crime are already making people bitter with anger as initial reports are coming in.
