The long awaited hovercraft project of Visakhapatnam is taking off to a good start and set to come much sooner than expected. Here is all about it.
The hovercraft project has been long pending and people of Visakhapatnam have been waiting for it to take off. Now the good news is that it is all set to come by January 2018. Hoverdock is the company that is executing the project and they are working in association with the state government of Andhra Pradesh. Now the latest inputs tell us that the hovercraft is being procured from Russia. They will be delivered from St.Petersburg and will cost a pretty penny at 3.c crores INR.
As reported by Times of India – “Hoverdock managing director D Chaitanya Varma said that by the second week of December, the vehicles would arrive in Visakhapatnam port. “Hopefully , we will start operating the vehicles for tourists from January 1 after completing all the formalities,” he said.”
Where – Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation has agreed that the area in front of Hotel Sea Pearl on RK Beach Visakhapatnam will be appropriate. It is spread over 3,700sq. yards and will rent at 15 lakhs per anum. The other details which include operations and execution are being worked out but the project is zooming ahead for sure.
Details of the Hovercraft Project –
- In the 1st phase, two no.s of five seater hovercraft and one no.s of nine seater hovercraft will be operated.
- The cost of the 5 seater hovercrafts is 50 lakhs INR.
- The cost of the 9 seater hovercrafts is 1.30 crore INR.
- The rents are expected to be Rs. 300/350 for a 15 minutes to 30 minutes ride but the details as to this is still pending final approval.
