In what is expected to boost the connectivity between Visakhapatnam and Mumbai, Air India will soon be launching new flights between the two cities. Set to get operational from 15 May, the flights will be carrying passengers both ways.
As informed by the Andhra Pradesh Air Travelers Association (APATA), the flights will be operational every day. While AI652 – Mumbai (19:00) to Visakhapatnam (20:50) and AI653 – Visakhapatnam (21:30) to Mumbai (23:20) will be flying from Monday to Friday, the flights AI652 – Mumbai (21:10) to Visakhapatnam (23:00) and AI653 – Visakhapatnam (23:30) to Mumbai (01:20) will be operational on Saturday and Sunday.
It may be noted that the Andhra Pradesh Air Travelers Association representatives met Capt. Amitab Singh, Director commercial & Board Member, Air India Limited and with Daggubati Purandeswari, Independent Director, Air India Ltd, earlier this year. APATA had requested for operating a late night flight to Mumbai and Delhi from Visakhapatnam to help international travellers gain access to flights from Mumbai and Delhi in order to continue their travel to other countries, and also in view of the cancellation of jet airways flights.
“The Andhra Pradesh Air Travelers Association thank Shri Ashwani Lohani, Chairman and Managing Director, Air India Ltd. and Daggubati Purandeswari, Independent Director, Air India Ltd for facilitating the start of new flights to Mumbai. Mumbai is the financial capital of the country and we hope it will facilitate trade and commerce between the two cities,” an official release from APATA stated.
