Visakhapatnam is all set for the country’s largest running event dedicated to women and spreading awareness of breast cancer. Being presented by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority and spearheaded by fitness ambassador Milind Soman, the fourth edition of Pinkathon will be flagged off at 5.30 am on 27 October from the parking lot opposite the Viswapriya Function Hall at the RK Beach.
Categorised as 3K, 5K and 10K, each run will be flagged off one after another. Andhra Pradesh Tourism, Culture and Telugu language Minister, Bhuma Akhila Priya, and Minister for Human Resource Development, Govt of Andhra Pradesh, Ganta Srinivasa Rao will be present among other dignitaries at the event on Saturday.
Also, Pinkathon will also witness visually impaired and specially-abled women taking part in the event. While the former will be participating in the 3K run, the latter will run for 500 m. The ‘Baby Wearing Walk’, which encourages mothers to participate in a walkathon whilst carrying their babies, would also be a part of the awareness raising campaign.
An all-inclusive event for women across the country, Pinkathon provides a platform for numerous enthusiasts. Be it cancer survivors, physically challenged, or even pregnant women, the run brings together women from different walks of life as one single community.
