Police seize 300 kilos of ganja in Visakhapatnam

The Anandapuram police, on Sunday, seized 300 kilos of ganja being transported illegally in two cars in Visakhapatnam. The vehicles were caught at the check post arranged near Sontyam in Visakhapatnam.

As per the details provided by the police, one car from Odisha, headed towards Pendurthi, crossed the check post in a suspicious manner. While the police chased the vehicle to know the details, two more cars sped past the check post towards Anandapuram.

With the check post police passing on the information, the cops at Anandapuram halted and searched the cars near LV Palem. On inspection, the officials found 300 kilos of ganja, contained in packets, were being transported out of the city. The seven accused have been identified as Ajay Kumar, Rajan Nayak, Pradeep, Nagaraj Sahu, Rubin, Ranjit Kumar, and Murali Krishna Rao.

Besides arresting the aforementioned seven individuals, the police also seized the two cars and registered a case. Talking to the reporters, CI Shankara Rao informed that the stock was procured from a peddler from Visakhapatnam forest area. He stated that the accused had purchased the ganja at a cost of Rs 3 lakh to sell it a higher price in Odisha.

Earlier, two ganja peddlers, based out of Visakhapatnam, were arrested

by Malkajgiri Special Operations Team (SOT), for transporting ganja to Hyderabad. The police had seized 106 kg of ganja and other materials worth Rs.15 lakhs from the duo.
