Visakhapatnam Police hold a press conference on solving recent thefts

On 9 January, 2022, a press conference was held by the Visakhapatnam Police at the Police Conference Hall, City Police Commissionerate. ADCP Surya Sravan Kumar, Crime Department, Visakhapatnam spoke to the press regarding multiple theft cases reported at Parawada Police Station, and Arilova Police Station, earlier this month. The Visakhapatnam Police displayed the stolen items and disclosed the information regarding the cases.

On 3 January, 2022, Kadavati Tatarao (Managing Director, VK Infrastructure) filed a case at the Arilova Police Station, Visakhapatnam regarding the theft of 150 electric wire material coils. Reportedly, the equipment was stored in a store room at an apartment construction site near Miracle Church Centre in Yendada. On the night of 2 January, 2022, after completion of work, the accused broke into the store room and robbed the electrical equipment worth Rs. 2,25,000. Upon filing the case under IPC section 380 at Arilova Police Station, a team headed by Inspector K. Ramarao , Dwaraka Sub-division, commenced to search for the robbers. After putting intense efforts, the accused, Duba Uma Maheswar Rao (36) and Korada Lakshman Rao (30) were captured. The police added that Palli Lakshman Rao (42) and Porapu Rambabu (39), owners of scrap shops in Chinna Waltair and Bheemili respectively, who were the receivers of the stolen material, were also arrested. The team had recovered the 150 electric wire material coils and a Tata Indica car used by the accused to steal the materials and escape.

In an another case,  Mummina Govinda Rao had filed a complaint at the Parawada Police Station,Visakhapatnam on 8 January 2022, regarding the theft of 6 tulas gold ornaments. The complainant informed that on 15 December 2021, thieves had broken into his residence during the night, while the doors were unlocked and the residents were asleep. Upon receiving the case, a FIR was registered at the Parawada Police Station, under IPC Section 380. A team, under the leadership of Inspector P. Surya Narayana, South Crime Sub-division, headed out for investigation. After putting dedicated efforts, the accused were caught and sent to remand. The items recovered were 17 tulas of gold, 8 tulas of silver, and 1 mobile phone, that are worth Rs. 4,30,000 in total. The accused apprehended were Nutan Kishore Banua (28), Nandini Banua (24) w/o Nutan Kishore Banua, and Byomkesh Chauduri (41). The police team also added that the accused were involved in a total of 6 theft cases. Receivers of the stolen items. P. Mallikarjuna Rao, Kangati Raju, B. Bramhaji, and D. Nanaji, were also arrested.
