In a sensational bust, the Visakhapatnam City Police seized over Rs 1 crore, suspected of being hawala cash, in a washing machine near NAD junction. As per the police reports, the currency was being transported to Vijayawada in an auto rikshaw by stuffing it inside the machine. The cops seized Rs 1.30 crores, the auto, and a bike.
This suspicious transportation of currency came to light when the Airport Police Station officials conducted regular vehicular checks at the NAD junction. During these checks, the police inspected an auto-rickshaw carrying a washing machine and uncovered the said bundles of cash.
Upon confiscating 30 mobile phones from the persons transporting the cash, the officials began the questioning procedure to ascertain the facts in the case. The Visakhapatnam City Police registered cases under the CrPC sections 41 and 102 against the men for failing to produce accounts for the suspected hawala cash discovered in the washing machine.

The police are yet to ascertain the origin of the money, persons related to this racket, the end receivers of the banknotes, and other details. Further, the Airport PS officials submitted the case to the court.
