The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has started probing into the sensational murders of Kidari Sarveswara Rao and Siveri Soma in Araku of Visakhapatnam district a few months ago.
Reportedly, the NIA considered probing the case given its importance and on the allegations that there were several lapses in security during the incident.
“The allegations are that MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former MLA Siveri Soma were killed by a group of CPI (Maoist) cadres near Livitiputtu village in Pothangi Panchayath of Dumbiriguda when they were going to Sarai village in two vehicles to attend a ‘Grama Darshini’. As per the orders issued by the MHA, a case has been registered under Sections 120 B, 147, 148, 302, 342, 353 and 397 r/w 149 of IPC, and under sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act, besides and Sections 16, 18 and 20 of Unlawful Activates (Prevention) Act,” the NIA officials were quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle.
It was reported that the vehicle of the leaders was stopped by the attackers, who forced them to get down. Weapons of the three security officers, comprising two 9mm pistols and 9mm carbine, were seized by the Maoists giving them no chance to open fire. Subsequently, the two leaders were taken a few meters away from the vehicle and were shot down point black with hands tied.
