Now railway passengers have the benefit of a cab service to start very soon at Visakhapatnam Railway Station and this will make the trip more comfortable for sure.
Now there is no more hassle of looking and booking private cab service or using Apps which may fail you at times. The railways have already called for tenders for instituting a cab service right at the Visakhapatnam Railway Station. One of the busiest on the East Coast, Vizag has high volume passenger movement. There is also the added issue of auto rickshaws and other vehicles who exercise a monopoly and harass cab drivers who try to pick up fares. These lead to the fares increasing without any justification. In the past passengers have had to brave the auto rickshaw owners and heavy luggage to exit the place and look for signal strength to book a cab.
Not any more!!
Coming sooner rather than later, the cab aggregator stand will be on the premises. It is started by the Waltair Railway Division. The Ministry is planning to provide the requisite space for 25 cabs to start with and kiosk facility as well. The feasibility study is underway for this at both Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar railway Stations. The last date for the tender is November 6. Whoever gets the contract will have it for 1 year and the tender value is 1.75 crores.
Location – Both Platform 1 and 8 were being looked at but platform 8 is more likely. This is because of space constraints on platform 1 side as well as the necessity to develop cab service and transport on Platform 8 side.
