The Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI) has selected two young skaters from Visakhapatnam to represent the nation in Artistic Skating at the World Roller Games 2019. The tournament is slated to be held from 27th June to 14th July 2019 at Barcelona, Spain.
Srilaasya Vempatatu and Priyam Tated, both 15 years old, were selected at the trails held at Nandurbar, Maharashtra from 01st May to 05th May 2019. Coach P. Satyanarayana is training the duo and will be accompanying the team to Spain. The skaters will leave between 25th June and 3rd July 2019 to get acclimatized to the conditions in the host country.
Srilaasya picked the bronze medal at the 56th National Roller Skating Championship held in Vizag in December 2018. This is her maiden event on an international platform. On the other hand, Priyam is the winner of the National Child Award (Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Shakti Puraskar). The Award was conferred upon by Sri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble President of India, in January 2019. The young talent also participated in the 26th January Republic Day Parade in 2019.
The Visakhapatnam-based skaters are working hard towards raising the Indian flag and garnering accolades for the nation, at the World Roller Games 2019.
