A fire accident was reported during the early hours of Monday at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The fire broke out in the Filter House Building near Steel Melt Shop-2, making it the second mishap at the plant within a span of three days.
Reportedly, the fire, which was doused off after a two-hour operation by the CISF fire personnel, didn’t cause any casualty. It has also been reported that no equipment was damaged and there was no loss in production due to the accident. However, investigations are on as the cause of the fire is still unknown.
“A minor fire mishap occurred in the Filter House Building near the canteen area of SMS-2 on Monday at around 2.30 a.m. The CISF fire brigade plunged into action and extinguished the fire within a short time,” a company spokesperson was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
Earlier, a fire broke out at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Friday. It was reported that a blast had occurred in Furnace-3 after a hot metal leaked out. The hot metal production was restored within 36 hours after the management completed the repair work.
