The people in Visakhapatnam have been getting no respite from the blazing sun. With the mercury levels soaring over the past few days, the going has got tougher in the district and the searing weather conditions have been taking a toll on the citizens. While it was earlier reported that a traffic cop succumbed to sunstroke in the city, things turned worse on Friday. With the sun assuming a scorching form on Friday as well, five individuals have reportedly lost their lives to sunstroke in the district.
P Ramalakshmi (49), from GVMC 70th ward, fell prey to sunstroke in Visakhapatnam on Friday. Reports claim that after losing consciousness, she breathed her last before being admitted to a hospital. T Perayya (75), of Cheedikada Mandal and V Chintalli (65), of Tunivalasa, were among the others who succumbed to sunstroke in Visakhapatnam district. The families of the deceased were consoled by the local leaders of the Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress Party.
Anakapalle too recorded a few sunstroke deaths on Friday. S Narayanamma (70) and K Appalakonda (94) lost their lives after being unable to cope up with the rising heat in Visakhapatnam district.
Reports claim that heat wave has caused more than 100 people to lose their lives in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over a period of 40 days.
