Visakhapatnam collector Pravin Kumar, on Monday, urged health officials to take measures and be in readiness to control the spread of Swine Flu in the district. Mentioning that 3 cases of Swine Flu were being reported daily on an average, the collector stated that the hospitals and concerned authorities must act responsibly in eradicating the tentacles of the disease from Visakhapatnam.
Speaking at a meeting at the Collectorate on Monday, Mr Kumar said that care should be taken to prevent further Swine Flu casualties and private hospitals too must follow the medical protocols and avoid shifting the patients to government hospitals in the last minute.
The Collector further added that patients must be treated as soon as they show any symptoms of the disease. He suggested that private hospitals also must have separate wards for treating the affected and supply Tamiflu tablets as and when needed.
Noting that the steel plant and industrial areas reported an increasing number of Swine Flu cases, Mr Kumar alerted the health officials and hospitals in these areas. The officials have been organising several awareness programs across the district.
Earlier, a 28-year-old woman and two other men in their twenties succumbed to Swine Flu in Visakhapatnam. It was also reported that Kurnool, Visakhapatnam, and Chittoor districts were the most affected ones in Andhra Pradesh.
