With an objective of developing skills, and inculcating the habit of innovation in the youth, Visakhapatnam will host the Regional Skills Competition 2021. This competition will be jointly organised by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC). The Regional Skills Competition, 2021 will be conducted in 52 trades from 30 November, 2021 to 4 December, 2021.
Announcing that Visakhapatnam will host the state level skills competition, the event organising committee Chairman and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) General Manager (HR), K.Nagesh, announced that over 1,200 youth from six states are expected to participate in the event. He added that this competition will provide a platform for skilled and talented youngsters to showcase their talent and abilities. The trades conducted in the skills competition will range from information technology to conventional trades.
On Sunday, Mr K.Nagesh, met the Andhra University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. PVGD Prasad Reddy. Along with them, Andhra University Registrar, V. Krishnamohan, HPCL Chief Manager, V. Prabhakar, amongst others were present. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Nagesh said that organising an ambitious event like the Regional Skills Competition 2021, in Visakhapatnam is a good opportunity for the youth and the district. He added that the University was always in support of programmes that encouraged the youth. Saying so, he requested the Vice-Chancellor’s cooperation and participation in this prestigious competition.
It could be noted that Andhra University has a similar project called the AU Skills Academy. It aims at selecting youth, from economically unprivileged backgrounds, and transforms them into industry professionals.
