With Visakhapatnam experiencing real scorchers since the past few weeks, residents here have been finding it extremely difficult to venture out in the sun. Adding further to the woes, water scarcity in several areas are leaving the denizens exasperated and are also proving to be an additional burden on their pockets. Taking the same to GVMC‘s notice, Visakhapatnam Apartment Resident’s Welfare Association wrote a letter to the commissioner Mr. M Hari Narayanan asking the city’s governing body to take necessary steps.
“The water woes started in the city with the onset of summer. People from different areas have been contacting us and informing about their sufferings due to water scarcity. The problems such as dried bore wells, reduction in the duration of Municipal water supply, delay in getting Municipal water tanker, high prices of the water tanker, etc., have been informed to us,” the letter read.
The letter also said that the temperatures, informedly, are likely to go higher this season which might cause further drying up of water resources. The letter further stated, “We came to know that GVMC is proposing to hike the water tanker charge shortly. Keeping in view the above sufferings of the city dwellers, as VARWA, we would like to request you to pay your attention to the following aspects.
