Taking a leap towards his dream of playing for the Indian cricket team, Vizag’s budding talent, K. Nitish Kumar Reddy has made it to the Under 19 squad.
Being groomed by the district cricket association, Nitish has been making a name for himself with consistent performances in the domestic tournaments. The 2017-18 season of the U-16 division saw the youngster grab eyeballs by amassing as many as 1200 runs. Recognising his talent, BCCI also awarded him with the award of Best Cricketer.
Nitish Kumar is now the 14th cricketer from the Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA) to get selected for India’s U-19 team. The young batsman was congratulated by several dignitaries of the VDCA for the same.
U-19 Cricket-Road to stardom
As witnessed in the past, the Under-19 division serves as a major platform for identifying many booming talents in the game. Be it Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli, or even the latest sensation, Prithvi Shaw, many Indian cricketers found limelight with their blistering performances in U-19 cricket. Cricketers of others too, such as Tim Southee, Wayne Parnell, Mitchell Marsh and Kane Williamson among others, caught the selectors’ attention with impressive outings for their respective U-19 sides.
Vizag’s Nitish Kumar too would be hoping to grab this opportunity with both hands and prove his mettle as takes a major stride towards his goal of playing for the national team.
