Blueprints ready for subway and underground parking at Vizag beach road

Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) has been planning to construct a 2km subway at the beach road in Vizag. The subway would help in reducing the traffic problem and allocate proper parking for the tourists who visit the place.

The walkers on the beach road face problems as the vehicles accumulate most of the area. During auspicious events conducted at the beach, the transport and traffic problems are at a high rate. With the addition of TU-142 Aircraft Museum, the tourism, and footfall on the beach road increased to a large scale.

Sources say that VUDA is looking forward to construct the subway likely to the ones in America.  The 3D designs and required blue print is ready for the major project. The subway on the beach road in Vizag would be the first of its kind in the country.

The Sea Harrier Aircraft and  3d Naval Aviation museums would be set up at a cost of 20 Crores at a tourism complex. The complex would be integrated with the ‘Victory at Sea’ memorial, Rajiv Smriti Bhavan and AU Convention Hall which are close by.

The subway and  parking would be accommodating more than 800 cars and two-wheelers would be constructed near the complex.

An amount of Rs 60 crore is expected to be invested in the underground parking project. The project is deemed to be constructed in an innovative manner and is even expected to feature wall panels and shopping among others.

Also, aligning to the parking lot, a huge greenery park would be established.

VUDA Vice-Chairman, P Basanth Kumar, mentioned that the tourism complex would be constructed in the likes of those situated in New York, Dallas, Boston and Chicago.

Basanth Kumar said, ” The subway and the parking lot would be first of its kind in India. The blueprints are ready and awaiting Chief Minister’s confirmation. After completion of the project, the running of the transport and parking would only be possible through the subway, while the roads on the beach would be open for tourists and walkers.”

Also, the VC mentioned that 11 models of the subway have been prepared and would be presented before the Chief Minister on June 21.
