Though Vizag does not bear extremely hot temperatures, the city experiences high humidity during the summers. And, to tolerate this, not just Vizagites but the tourists as well are flocking various beaches in the city as a getaway from the scorching heat and humidity.
A total number of 2,70,206 people visited various beach spots in April according to the State Tourism Department while RK Beach alone registered 1,66,630 footfalls. Rushikonda beach was visited by 56,612 people. Bheemili and Yarada beach registered a footfall of 45,519 and 1449 respectively.
“Nearly 2200 foreign tourists visited the beaches including 1425 at RK beach in April. The number may go up if the temperature levels are extremely high this time,” a senior tourism officer told TOI.
“The number of footfall at the four main beaches has already crossed the April’s figure in May as on Saturday. The May’s footfall on the four beaches may touch 3 lakh,” the officer added.
In addition to being famous for their beautiful waters and shores, Vizag beaches are known for the large sands and well-constructed sitting areas which can accommodate the huge crowd. The city with a very large coastline consists of various tourist attraction beach spots such as RK Beach, Rushikonda, Yarada Beach and Bheemili Beach. The Aircraft and Submarine museums are added attractions.
