The Craft Tree to organise a Block Printing workshop in Vizag

The Craft Tree is conducting a two-day Block Printing workshop in Vizag and here’s what you need to know about it.

What would you get to learn at the workshop?

One of the most ancient art forms in the country, the origins of Block Printing date back to the 3rd Century CE. From carving out a design over a wooden block to mixing the natural dyes to expertly printing them onto a fabric, the craft involves several meticulous procedures and demands mastery to get the job done right.

The upcoming Block Printing workshop being organized by The Craft Tree provides all the enthusiasts with an opportunity to get hands-over-experience over the art and also gain useful insights regarding the craft.

While one of the trainers is Pragati, who had already successfully conducted a Tie and Dye Workshop in Vizag in the past, the other trainer, Nikhil Joshi, hails from a Block Printing family in Jaipur.

The materials that would be used for training the participants at the workshop would be eco-friendly and are safe to be handled. Also, the participants can block print on handmade papers that could be purchased in the workshop.

In addition, the workshop would also feature an exhibition showcasing products like handmade envelopes, diaries, gift boxes, etc.

About Pragati, the trainer

A graduate in fashion designing and masters in textile design, Pragati completed her studies in the field of textiles at Bharatiya Shilp Sansthan (Indian Institute of Crafts and Design).  She worked with large designing studios like Raw mango and Singhania’s. She introduced ‘The Craft Tree’ to conduct several workshops and keep the art of textile making and her work alive. The Craft Tree is involved with the idea of getting crafts and artisans from the entire nation at one platform.
