Various organisations, and departments, in Vizag, observed National Unity Day 2021, on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on Sunday. As part of the celebrations, a Run for Unity was organised on RK Beach Road. The run was flagged off by the Vizag City Police Commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha IPS, and Visakhapatnam Superintendent of Police (Rural), Boddepalli Krishna Rao IPS.
The unity pledge was administered to the Armed Reserve officers after the run. Speaking on the occasion, SP Krishna Rao explained the importance of National Unity Day and the meaning of the unity pledge. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gowthami Sali IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, B Lakshmi Narayana, and other police officers also attended this event.
The Waltair Railway Division in Vizag celebrated National Unity Day 2021 as well, by conducting a walkathon from the DRM office to the Visakhapatnam railway station. Divisional Railway Manager, Anup Kumar Satpathy, administered the unity pledge to the staff at the railway station after the walkathon. DRM Satpathy highlighted why Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is revered widely in the country and how his firm belief in national integrity is a pillar of the country’s unity.
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) organised their own Run for Unity, to mark National Unity Day 2021, at Vizag Steel premises in which more than 250 women and children took part, apart from many male participants.
National Unity Day is celebrated every year on 31 October.
