In what might come as a strong message, it has been reported that as many as 53 policemen have been booked in Vizag for violating the helmet rule.
The numbers, revealed by the police records, have been recorded this year in Vizag while conducting special drives across the city.
Interestingly, it has also been reported that most of these violations by the cops have been brought to light by the citizens of Vizag. Reportedly, citizens have been posting pictures of the cops violating the helmet rule and lodging complaints on Whatsapp groups and Twitter.
“None will be spared for violating the norms as everyone is equal before the law. Be it commoners or men in uniform, cases will be registered on the spot if they are found violating the law,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), M. Ramesh Kumar, was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
The authorities have been adopting several measures in trying to increase the road safety awareness among the citizens. In addition to imposing fines and charging penalties for breaking the rules, the authorities have also tried to implement several innovative strategies to enhance the road safety in the city.
